Last full day :( (Saturday)

Today was our last full day here in paradise! We spent our day lounging by the pool and ocean and of course drinking too much! For lunch Matt had a pizza made in the fancy wood oven! They have lots of activities here at this resort. After lunch they had bingo - and guess who won....ME! I won some silly card holder things. Matt played volleyball on the beach two resorts down for like two hours. He's met some nice people. Some of the people we met had to leave today. We also went for a walk down the beach and dipped our toes in the ocean. This afternoon there was also a huge snake on the resort as well as a parrot. I got to hold the snake but they wanted money to get a picture with it so I didn't get my photo. I was too cheap.

Tonight we went to the a la carte for supper. It was French themed. It was overall very good. Delicious chicken cordon bleu! Matt had some steak thing - he said it was no Alberta beef but it was alright. lol

Now we plan to head up to the Sky Lounge and party with our friend Fabricio on our last night! Here's to our last night in Mexico! CHEERS!

Friday

Today, Matt woke up early and jumped in the shower. Then he woke me up to shower. Well while I was in the shower apparently the bed started shaking and rocking and he thought "oh man the people next door must be getting it on". Well later we find out that there was a mini earthquake!!

We went for breakfast then sat by the ocean for a while. We got to see a pretty big fish jump too! At 10 we decided to go into town again - but this time we took a taxi instead of walking. We started at Senor Frogs and started walking until we found a huge flea market. 600+ vendors!!! It was a huge maze. A little eerie though - I saw an army truck full of military guys with their guns out driving around! After we checked out the flea market we headed back towards the boardwalk and stopped for cold cervezas (beer)! $2 USD for 2 corona! Then we did some more shopping, spent some more money then I spotted a gorilla on the boardwalk. Well of course I needed my photo with him. We walked up to him and he worked out of a bar called the zoo. He put me in a cage and we got photos. Then we had another beer and wings there. After that we browsed around a bit more - found out we could buy beer at the convenience store and walk up and down the street drinking! :) Then we got a taxi back to the resort where we hung by the pool and had more drinks. Matt played beach volleyball again and I watched. Weather was a little bit cloudy today until the sunset. We got photos of a beautiful sunset tonight. After that we hit the buffet and now we sit, drinking some electric lemonades and putting our feet up. We will see if we are still upright by the time the show starts tonight!

(The Sky Lounge is closed tonight for a wedding..... :( Booo!!! This means no partying with Fabricio. I guess there is always tomorrow for that)

Hidden Mexico!

Today we went on an excursion called Hidden Mexico. It started out bright and early - we got a taxi to the Marina where we met our tour guide. We then boarded this huge yellow bus/van/off-road thing and headed off. We drove through Puerto Vallarta on our way to the Botanical Gardens. Here we saw all kinds of neat flowers, trees, and even a green parakeet. Next we stopped at a place where we checked out some carvings into stones (I'll have to check the exact name of it later). It dates wayyy back and stories are told through these pictures on the rocks.

Next stop was lunch, which was awesome. We were guided to an old ranch back down some dusty trails in our truck. We then crossed a wooden bridge and saw that we were eating lunch in the river! They had tables set up in the water - we had to take our socks and shoes off to get there. We enjoyed a traditional Mexican lunch! Even Matt and I found something we liked to eat! After lunch we had a few minutes to wander - well the owner of the house on the property invited us in to take a look around. Very cool.

After lunch we went to el Tuito, an old Mexican town in the mountains. We did come across some rain getting there. Here we stopped at a wood workshop where they make the little wood carvings. Next we went to the cemetery to check out a Mexican cemetery - they are pretty different than back home. After that we went to the town square and went to tour an old church.

Finally our guide broke out the Cerveza on the bus and we had some drinks on route!

Then back on the bus and we headed to a tequila place where we got to try different kinds of tequila. And we agreed on one thing - chocolate tequila is amazing!! (There might even be some coming home in the suitcase)

Our last stop was an artisan bakery, where they were making fresh breads. I tried some but didn't buy any. Then we got back on our truck thing and headed back to Marina Vallarta.

It just so happened that tonight on the Marina there was a huge flea market. We wandered a little bit before hailing a taxi and heading back to our resort. We just finished supper and now we are having some drinks waiting for the show.

Tomorrow will be another relax pool day - maybe head to the Melacon (a huge boardwalk and shopping place downtown) to see what we can find!!

Wednesday!

So Tuesday night ended off with a bang....NOT! Matt had to put me to bed at 8:30pm and then he went back and partied with the bartender!! No idea what time he stumbled to bed!

Today was a pool day. Matt played beach volleyball twice and water volleyball once. Note to self: Irish boy in Mexico needs SPF 150+!! He looks like a lobster. Lol

I played bocce ball with a group of people and came in second place! Then I went back to the pharmacy across the street to get some Aloe!! Matt might need it!

Tonight we talked to a couple retired teachers from Texas! Great to hear some stories and learn more about them! They are going home tomorrow though. Our favourite bartender, Mr Fabulous is back at the Sky Lounge tonight! Probably spend some time with him and then hit the mime show later. Not sure how I feel about mimes?! They are kinda sorta like clowns....ahhh!

Tomorrow we leave early for our Hidden Mexico tour! Hope you are all enjoying the snow at home! Lol. Time for rum....BYE!

Tuesday

So today we were greeted by the concierge who booked us a tee time for 1:45 today. We hung out by the ocean until we had to leave. Matt played volleyball with some people on the beach and I drank daiquiris! We then got a taxi to the golf course - Marina Vallarta. Beautiful course. We were greeted by 10 foot crocodiles sunning themselves on the fairways. There were also iguanas running around everywhere. We probably saw 8 different crocs. We only managed to finish 13 holes of golf though - before we were exhausted and super hot - oh and we ran out of golf balls. Safe to say we aren't professionals!!! Then we got a taxi back to our resort and had a few more drinks. Matt made friends with the bartender at the Sky Lounge. He keeps making us all different kinds of drinks!!! Blue lagoons, electric lemons - you name it! We got our picture with him too! (The wi fi is too slow to upload photos so will post those when we are home). We just grabbed a bite to eat at the buffet and now we are by the pool again. Disco party tonight!

Last night was a neat show - all people painted up and dancing with drums (hard to explain). Also Matt did NOT like the a la carte last night. It was Asian themed. I didn't mind it. Safe to say we won't eat there again unless the menu changes.

Tomorrow is a pool day and a beach volleyball day for Matt. Then Thursday is our hidden Mexico tour.

Oh and from yesterday - our tequila showed up!! We aren't as stupid as we thought!!

That's all for now folks!!

We’re Never Ever Coming Home

So today was a bit of an adventure. We started off by the pool and ended up in town. First we are at the snack bar. It is fantastic!!! Great fresh made pizzas and burgers! Then we headed for the 25 min walk to the boardwalk. We hit Senor Frogs and a tequila shop (where we got sucked in). We bought 2 bottles of tequila, and are still waiting for them to be delivered (oops are we stupid Canadians?!) oh we also had free samples of about 12 kinds of tequila. Mmmm. We bought a few souvenirs and headed back to the resort. It was HOT! After a dip in the pool to cool off we went to the Sky Lounge (love that place) for drinks and relaxation. Oh did I mention while at senor frogs there was a clown and he made us some “beautiful” balloon stuff and then expected a tip. I tipped him just to get him away from us! STUPID CLOWNS! Now we sit and wait in the lobby for our dinner at the a la carte restaurant. Melissa is now cut off she should not mix alcohol !!!! We are planning to golf hopefully tomorrow and also booked a tour called “Hidden Mexico” for Thursday. I’m not sure we are going to come home. It is pretty nice here.
